As markets evolve, the economics governing the markets also evolve. Markets evolve due to technological advancements and new types of resources creation. Intangible resources are a new resource in the space today. Supported by technological advancements, these developments have reshaped the way we understand how markets work and can be designed.
Get smart: Technology has changed the way economic principles are being applied. The good news is that fundamental economic principles do not change. We just have a new resource to play with now.
General Conclusion Traditionally, economics is the study of how resources are produced, consumed and distributed in a market. Resources are input factors to produce goods or services for commerce. They are factors of production. There are four main resources: labour, land, capital and entrepreneurship.
Economics is a “soft science” like psychology, political science and sociology, compared to a “hard science” like physics, biology and astronomy. As our ecosystems evolve due to technological upgrades and increased complexity of human behaviours, the analysis and objectivity in economics evolves with resource evolution.
The advent of new economic resources like information as a resource, and technology allowing for interaction between agents, has resulted in new economic fields. Many of the recent Nobel prizes were awarded in recognition of new economic approaches. For example, auction theory (2020), integrating technological innovations into long-run macroeconomic analysis (2018), nudge theory and choice architecture (2017), contract theory (2016), two-sided markets (2014), and market design (2012).
New Economic Resource: Intangible assets The four traditional economic resources are land, labour, capital, entrepreneurship. These are traditional tangible resources.
In today’s digital ecosystems, a new resource has come into the picture: information (intangible resource).
4 Properties of this new resource Sunk costs: these are costs that have already been paid for and consumed.
Spill-overs:
these are additional effects that can be both positive and negative. This is determined by the secondary impacts and implications related to the intangible assets created.
Scalability:
this is the ability to expand growth easily. The key feature in an intangible asset is that it has a non-rivalry characteristic. One person’s usage does not reduce the existence of the asset. The asset is also supercharged with “network effects”, a positive spill-over.
Two people in two cities can read the same article online at the same time. This is different to an article in a newspaper, where only one person at a time can read the newspaper because they are each in different physical places.
Synergies and complementarities: these are intangible assets that can produce synergies and complementarities with other assets, enhancing network effects. This helps networks to scale and produce positive spill-over effects, as opposed to substitutability.

2021.10.25 22:16 rillleeyyy Work Situation

I apologize in advance for this being all over the place. I feel like I have a situation at work that I need some help on. I started this job about two months ago at a mental health facility, where clients come in to see therapists and doctors throughout the week. When I first started there I was told that the lady, we will call her Karen, who is considered the “coordinator” of my job had caused many people who share the same job to leave in the past. This person and I do the same tasks and was given that title because of the years that she has worked there. When I started out I have heard her and the others who share the same job make snide remarks about each other, however, immediately after meeting the other two girls and job shadowing them I noticed what Karen had said was not true. But the comments they have said about her I am seeing them come true. She pushes off as much work as she can onto me and then will make comments of finishing her paperwork. The other two girls I mentioned before have already moved on to different jobs in the two months I have been there. One moved up in the company and the other left for a different job. One of the girls who left was the doctors personal secretary and since she has left I have taken over her tasks as well and become their secretary. Backtrack ever since Karen has left me alone to work at the front desk which was only after a day and a half, every time I have asked questions she is very hateful with me. Like today we had a new girl start in one of the open positions and I asked a question just to be sure and she answered me like I was dumb in front of the new person. When the first girl told everyone she was leaving to move up in the company I asked the facility’s manager if I could take her place at a desk in the back because I have terrible social anxiety and have had to double my anxiety meds dosage since starting. I took the job for the front desk because I desperately needed the money and knew I could move up in the company. I was told by my manager that we share the same position, so I asked if I could move to the back and then when they hire the new person that they could take over the front desk. About a day later she told me that the new hires and I would start rotating between the desks in the back which is definitely better than staying in the front. The reason I bring that up is because Karen told me that she knew I had ask the boss to move to the back which I feel like is what one does when they want to move jobs and she informed me that she would not be in the rotation. Later that week we had a pumpkin painting party where we closed the office and everyone got to hang out. That day Karen was very hateful to everyone and when one of the therapist I have gotten close to asked when I would start to get to work in the back, Karen spoke up over everyone in the room and pointed at me and said “yea because SHE wanted to be in the back rotations have to start now” in a very hateful tone. So I just stopped talking unless someone spoke to me. So today like I mentioned before I believe the new girl started and so I was excited because training has to take place at the front desk as I had done and everyone else, and I would finally get to enjoy a day to myself doing all the tasks. I noticed this morning when I came in that Karen and the new girl had already seemed to form a tight bond, and I might be wrong in feeing this but it felt like it was going to turn into a very bad situation for me in the future. So after about an hour of being there she called me up front and said I needed to stay up there while she trained her in the back, which is not how we are supposed to be trained. Each time I had to go to the back to fix a letter to mail off or shred anything they would just be on their phones and not working. So I’m not sure if I should say anything to our actual manager about how she has been treating me or not. I feel like if I saw something that she will definitely know it is me that brought something up. This whole afternoon I felt like crying because of how I have been treated by her. One of the therapists noticed something was wrong and asked me if something was up or if I wanted to talk about anything and I told her no that I was just thinking. Everyone else at the office treats me well and I have gotten close to quite a bit of the other coworkers in the short time that I have been there. I just don’t know what to do in this situation because I really like the work environment minus that one person. I apologize for this being so long and if anyone has a word of advice anything will help. Idk I could be in the wrong here, I just need some help.

Hello! I write Dream SMP fanfiction and because I had no plan for my first fanfic my oc's are in it and I've seen that people either hate oc's mixing with fanbases they are okay with it or they seek it out. I've seen Oc's in not only fanfiction but fanart like a couple of animatics, fanart, quick animations etc., anyway I just wanted to know if you had an opinion on it and why you had that opinion! -Smile

2021.10.25 22:16 Viceto Saving backend values as behaviorsubject

Is it a good practice to save some values coming from a backend as behaviorsubject in a service? For something with an initial value that can also change I know it’s a good idea, but for something like a boolean I am not sure if it’s necessary. If it isn’t, how else should I store these types of values in a service

2021.10.25 22:16 Routanikov12 Are we facing the same 'climate' in terms of imbalance of political parties' power due to nearly -duopoly Canadian politics of The Lib and The Tory?

A few days ago, I came across a British social and political magazine that talks about the 2 parties that are disproportionately way too dominant in their political system. I am just starting to wonder, due to our FPTP system, we have both the Liberals and the Conservatives are significantly dominant than the rest of the parties.
In the UK, I feel it is the more extreme example of essentially "duopoly-like": compared to Canada. Their voting polls currently show both the Conservative Party (Tories) and Labour Party are VASTLY way too dominant compared to the rest of the parties currently in Parliament:
